Future Programmes Activities As a result of our painfully low productivity levels which do not keep up with our heavy wage bill, JARO is barely self-supporting for all of its needs. Annual grants from the Federal and State governments are sufficient to cover only one month's running expenditure. Donations from the public also do not meet its total requirements. In the last few years this trend has worsened due to the economic downturn leading to less customers, competition from cheaper producers and the rising cost of raw materials. JARO relies heavily on corporate philanthropy to continue with the noble work that it does. As the world outside progress, JARO has been somewhat left behind enveloped in a time capsule largely due to insufficient funds to carry out the upgrading projects that we so desperately need, let alone keep our heads above water. |
