JARO Premises

From 1952 - 1960, JARO occupied a small room within the Johor Bahru General Hospital. In 1961, it moveed into larger premises within the hospital compound. In 1968, JARO moved into its own 2-storey building built on land donated by the Johor State Government. It was officially opened on 1 November 1968 by the then Deputy Prime Minister, YAB Tun Hj. Abdul Razak Bin Dato' Hussain. This building is now no longer adequate for JARO's purposes. The Management Committee has therefore embarked on a building project.

Building & Renovation Project

New Building (Block A) - Its purpose is to generate rental income to provide a firm financial base for JARO's operations. Construction will be complete in 2010.

Old Building (Block B) - Extension and renovation of Block B is necessary because of the need to extend JARO's capacity to rehabilitate and train a larger number of OKU by:

  • Providing more workshop space
  • Providing space for proposed Training Centre which will train OKU for jobs in the open market
  • Extending its assistance to a larger number of disabled people
  • Improving in-house facilities for its OKU rehabilitees
