JARO's role in Rehabilitation and Training

Translating the objectives as embodied in its Constitution into reality, JARO aims at helping OKU irrespective of race, creed or background, find employment so as to create a sense of independence and reposition them with dignity in the mainstream of society.

We provide on the job training and employment in our workshops and help them find employment whenever possible, e.g., when Universiti Sains Malaysia Library started its binding department, it recruited its staff from JARO. We also provide employment in our three sheltered workshops.

Our new emphasis is to provide help to a larger number of OKU through training in different kinds of work at different educational levels. The extension to our existing building (Block B) is being planned for this purpose.

JARO's Role in Employing the Disabled

In tangible terms, many OKU have benefitted from the training, and have found employment within JARO and outside. Some have set up home-based industries with JARO assisting as a collection and marketing centre. Employment figures are low at present because of financial constraints.
